Troubled Times

1 Peter 1:3-6 and 23-25:

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy he gave us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, that is, into an inheritance imperishable, undefiled, and unfading. It is reserved in heaven for you, who by God's power are protected through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. This brings you great joy, although you may have to suffer for a short time in various trials.

You have been born anew, not from perishable but from imperishable seed, through the living and enduring word of God.

For all flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of the grass; the grass withers and the flower falls off, but the word of the Lord endures forever. And this is the word that was proclaimed to you.

What an amazing promise! We have the promise of salvation, an imperishable inheritance etc., and the Word of God that endures forever.

In these troubled times we see unfolding before us in our culture and the world, how are we to live? We stand on the promises of God laid out in His Word. Get into a habit of reading and memorizing the word often, daily if possible. It will sustain you.

Hiding Gods word in our hearts will help us not to sin against Him. It will also grow our spiritual roots down deep so that when trials come, and they will come, we will have His promises to stand on. …The grass withers and the flower falls off, but the word of the Lord endures forever.
