Revival

Oh Lord, Send the Power Just Now

and Baptize Everyone….

Now when the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.

Suddenly a sound like a violent wind blowing came from Heaven and filled the entire house where they were sitting.

And tongues spreading out like fire appeared to them and came to rest on each one of them.

All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit, and they began to speak in other languages as the Spirit enabled them.

There is a cry across the world for revival today. The Disciples did not know they were praying for revival or the start of the Church of Jesus. They were seeking God because He told them to and to stay together until He sent the Holy Spirit. They had no idea what this meant; it had never happened before.

If we want to see revival, it will start with us individually!

The Great Awakening was a religious revival that impacted the English colonies in America during the 1730s and 1740s. The movement came at a time when the idea of secular rationalism was being emphasized, and passion for religion had grown stale. Sounds a little like America today, doesn’t it?

But our example in the Great Awakening started with George Whitfield, Jonathan Edwards, and Gilbert Tennent. All three were seeking God earnestly and experienced a personal revival first, then began to preach to others.

Looking at the Disciples and the first revival that started it all, here are a few observations:

* The Disciples were all together in one place and seeking God for 50 days.

* They were unified in heart and spirit - Jesus gave them instructions, and they all followed them.

* The Holy Spirit spread like fire and rested on each of them.

* They were all filled and began to speak in other languages as the Spirit enabled them. None of them were making this up. They weren’t playing around or seeking to whip each other into some sort of hyped-up frenzy. This was genuine!

If we want to see revival - We will need to be unified.

When the Great Awakening began, the message was plain and simple, repent of your sin and receive salvation. This is the rallying cry, and boy, does our world need it today.

If I want to see Revival, It will start in me! Make it so, Lord Jesus!
