Overflowing

I am sure we have all heard the phrase in Christian circles that our cup is overflowing. While I can’t find any reference in the Bible with those exact words, the concept is real. God’s presence is overwhelming, sometimes to the point of being a little scary — that’s the awe of God. He is so powerful and good; Moses had to cover his face when he came down from the mountain after receiving the law from God… the Bible says that his face was glowing. Exodus 34:29

When we spend time with Jesus, we should be glowing too. Our “cup” should be overflowing with His love and goodness. If we don’t experience His presence in our house of worship, I encourage us to examine our hearts. Are we coming with a pure heart, or do we need to do some business with God first about attitude or actions?

When we gather together, Jesus is there in the midst; that’s His promise to us. If we come with a clean heart and clear conscience and are not experiencing His presence at our house of worship, find a new one.

This world we live in needs us to be full and bold with the presence and power of Jesus! There isn’t time for us to be complacent and docile. Jesus has business to do in this world, and He chooses to use us to accomplish it.

Did you know that we have a purpose on this earth through Jesus and by His power that only we can accomplish? God has created good works for us to do for the sake of His kingdom. Don’t tolerate complacency or mediocrity in our own lives or the atmosphere of our houses of worship.

The challenge here is to clean up our own standing with God and boldly step out in our world wherever He directs you to speak or act. Ephesians 2:10 says For we are his workmanship, having been created in Christ Jesus for good works that God prepared beforehand so we may do them.
